If interested in working as a Personal Assistant (PA) and would like to be placed on RAMP’s PA list please see below guidelines.
RAMP is not the employer. PA’s report to and work for the Consumer who and are paid by the State of Illinois Department of Rehab Services (DRS).
Interested individuals need to come into the RAMP office to fill out an Information Data Sheet (IDS), which is similar to a job application.
A state id or valid driver’s license and social security card are required to fill out the IDS.
The Personal Assistant Coordinator (PAC) will then run background checks. The PAC will mail a letter with the result of the background check. If approved, the individual will be invited to a mandatory unpaid orientation. After completing the orientation, the individual will then be placed on the PA referral list.
RAMP does not give a list of Consumers to call nor does RAMP find a PA someone to work for. RAMP simply places the PA’s name on a referral list that is given to active RAMP consumers who are looking for PA’s. Consumers decide who to call.
This is not guaranteed employment. Some PA’s receive a call right away, some do not.
Once on the PA referral list, PA’s must actively communicate with Consumers and RAMP’s PAC to remain on the PA referral list.
For more information about becoming a Personal Assistant please contact RAMP.
