Then we are looking for YOU!  RAMP has a part-time opening for the position of Parent Mentor in our Freeport office and the ideal candidate is a self-starter who wants to assist children with disabilities and their parents to build positive relationships with school staff.  
Don’t be tied to a desk!  This job allows you to be out in the community, developing relationships with youth with disabilities, their families, and educators. You can make a difference by assisting people in locating resources to ensure positive educational experiences.

Certified Sign Language Interpreter
Creative, busy, people-centered non-profit seeking skilled person to provide sign language interpreting services for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing in the DeKalb area.  Ideal candidate will have a minimum of ISAS Level I, T or I Certification, an excellent understanding of Deaf culture, be positive, self-motivated, team player, and possess strong organizational skills. Sign Language Interpreter - Rockford Office
Purpose of Position:
To provide sign language interpretation for persons with hearing impairments.  This position requires a thorough understanding and appreciation for Deaf culture and the Independent Living (IL) Philosophy.
Position Parameters:
Full-time and Part-time positions available.  Reports directly to the Deaf Services Manager.  This position will be supported by the Deaf  Services Team and Support Staff.
Minimum Qualification:
1. Qualified sign language interpreter according to the Illinois State Interpreter Act;
2. Minimum of two years of proven, successful interpreting experience in work similar to the position’s job activities and an excellent understanding of Deaf culture;
3. Good to excellent standing in the deaf community and among other interpreters;
4. Personal experience with a disability and/or working with persons with disabilities a plus;
5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to present information in a clear, concise manner;
6. Literacy in computer applications including word processing and database management;
7. Professional manner in dress and when interacting with others both inside (team player) and outside of the organization;
8. Reliable transportation and a willingness to work some evening and weekend hours as needed;
9. Personal experience and/or an intimate knowledge of the Independent Living Philosophy and a strong desire to see it carried out in the community.

Marketing Coordinator
Purpose of Position
:
  To advance and optimize the organization’s efforts in promoting the Independent Living Philosophy through the use of the media, advertising, public service announcements, community fairs, public presentations, the internet, RAMP’s website, the RAMP Slant, and other marketing strategies in Winnebago, Boone, Stephenson and DeKalb counties. 

Requirements of Position: 

1.    Associates or Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience;

2.    Excellent written and verbal communication skills;

3.    Excellent computer skills, specifically in the areas of Desktop Publishing, Quark XPress 6.5; Microsoft FrontPage, and Adobe Photoshop.

4.    Creative in marketing approaches as well as in designing ads, brochures, marketing themes, etc.;

5.    Personal experience with a disability is a plus;

6.    A belief and commitment to the Independent Living Philosophy and a vision for its implementation;

7.    Self-motivated and a team player to involve all staff in marketing;

8.    Reliable transportation and a willingness to work evening and weekend hours when needed.

Position Parameters:  Full-time; salaried;  medical and dental benefits; flexible medical spending accounts; 401(k) plan; life insurance; EAP; travel and expenses reimbursed; 10 paid holidays; paid vacation and sick time; reports directly to the Development Director and works from the Rockford office.
