The following services are available from RAMP for the deaf/hard of hearing community:

TTY Distribution Program

Sign Language Interpreters
Using Sign Language
RAMP provides interpreter services for employers, businesses, medical/mental health facilities, legal and law enforcement facilities.

Services include sign language interpreters, deaf/blind interpreters, and Communication Access Real-time Translation (CART). Call (815) 968-7467 v/tty to schedule an interpreter.
A fee is charged for this service.

The Americans with Disabilities Act expects agencies, businesses, service providers, and employers to remove barriers that prevent a deaf person from participating. For more information : The Rights of Deaf & Hard of Hearing under the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Deaf Information & Referral
RAMP can help you find information on community services, including mental health services, vocational counseling and recreational services. RAMP can also provide information on obtaining assistive listening devices.

TTY  Distribution Program
RAMP is a distribution site for the Illinois Telecommunications Access Corporation Teletypewriter Distribution Program. 

RAMP provides free TTYs and training for qualified deaf, hard of hearing, or speech impaired individuals from Boone, Bureau, Carroll, DeKalb, LaSalle, Lee, McHenry, Stephenson, Whiteside and Winnebago counties.

Don't have a TTY, but need to talk with a deaf friend?
Call the Illinois Relay Center by dialing 7-1-1. It's a free service.
