Americans with Disabilities ActThe landmark American with Disabilities Act (ADA) enacted on July 26, 1990, provides comprehensive civil rights protection to individuals with disabilities in the area of employment, State and local government services, public accommodations, and telecommunications. The ADA is a federal anti-discrimination statute designed to remove barriers which prevent qualified individuals with disabilities from enjoying the same opportunity that are available to persons without disabilities.
