October 18 & 19, 2007: DeKalb RAMP’s Scavenger Hunt & Round Table Discussion Thursday, October 18th & Friday, October 19th, 2007 RAMP in DeKalb RAMP’s first ever Scavenger Hunt is an exciting, eye-opening experience that places valued community leaders in the driver’s seat allowing everyone the opportunity to work together to achieve a common goal: to make positive changes for our county. RAMP (Regional Access & Mobilization Project) is a non-profit, non-residential Center for Independent Living (CIL) that advocates for and serves people with disabilities. Scavenger Hunt participants will be assigned a disability and task then experience real-life challenges of being a person with a disability. The Scavenger Hunt will be held Thursday, October 18, 2007 from 9:00 a.m - 1:00 p.m., at the RAMP office, 1022 West Lincoln Hwy DeKalb. We will meet again on Friday October 19, 2007 from 10:00 a.m. – noon to brainstorm achievable solutions. October 24, 2007: Free Public Workshop of Fair Housing & Lending Wednesday, October 24, 2007; 9:30am-3:00pm Prairie State Legal Services & RAMP have partnered to bring a Free Workshop on Fair Housing and Predatory Lending. The workshop features Chicago attorney, Daniel Edelman, a noted expert on predatory lending, and Prairie State's fair housing expert, Mark Kelly. For renters, home buyers, sellers, realtors, lenders, public agency, or social service staff. What you will learn: How to recognize and fight housing discrimination, how to recognize and avoid predatory mortgage lending and receive free reference materials.
